Appearance¶
Solid, broad-shouldered build; mature-looking for his years. Dark hair with early gray at the temples; neat salt-and-pepper beard and mustache. Deep-set dark eyes; prominent nose; firm mouth; direct, authoritative gaze. Presents as a capable, respectable banker-clerk turned steward.
Typical dress: Long dark navy or black formal robe with a high stand collar, row of dark metal buttons, and black leather belt with rectangular buckle — clerical-administrative rather than martial.
Background¶
Son of Morris, Fulham City Treasurer. Aide to the port city's most important banker; also oversees his infirm grandfather's estate. Hired as Steward of Newtown after Matthias and Lilia interview candidates (Day 20). Lilia has known his youngest sister since infancy; family is well respected.
Manages Compound/Estate budget, Kranos death-tax payment (Day 24), windmill and forge projects, wall extension, bathtub commission, ox disposition, City Guard coordination, farmer protection records, and county administration after Hamilton expansion (Day 57). House on woodland adjacent to Compound (grant Day 20). Plans Sheriff's office, jail, and deputy outside extended walls (Day 58); architect for Manor expansion (Day 60).
Personality¶
Integrity-first; will not abuse office for gain (Day 20 interview). Pragmatic on taxes — necessary but must be justly assessed. Suppresses smirks at Matthias's romantic infrastructure requests. Observes political risk: instability invites invasion (Day 58).
