Nystrian Calendar¶

Single source of truth for Story Day ↔ AHF. Update this file when chapters add calendar facts.

Story days and days of the year¶

Story day numbers in chapter headings and the Story Bible are also days of the year in the Nystrian calendar (AHF — After Haven Founded).

Each calendar date is written {day} {month} {year} AHF (e.g. 9 Venne 987 AHF). The day number within the month, together with the month, gives the day of the year (1–365, or 366 in a leap year).

Term	Meaning
Story day	Sequential count from the opening of Book 01 — never resets
Day of the year	Position within the current AHF year (same number as story day while still in the same year)
Calendar date	`{day of month} {month} {AHF year}`

Book 01 opens on story day 1 = day of the year 1 = 1 Hewi 987 AHF (22 June 2024, arrival in Nystria).

Leap years follow the Gregorian rule (same as the common Western calendar):

Leap if the AHF year is divisible by 4
Except if divisible by 100
Unless divisible by 400

AHF year	Leap?

988	Yes (÷4) → 366 days
1000	No (÷100) → 365 days
1200	Yes (÷400) → 366 days

Throughout the tables below, day or story day = day of the year for events still in 987 AHF unless a different AHF year is noted.

Story day → calendar date (987 AHF, Book 01)¶

While Book 01 stays in 987 AHF, story day D maps to day-of-year D. Use month starts (each month 28 days): Hewi 1–28 → 1–28 Hewi; Venne 29–56 → (D−28) Venne; Hjerst 57–84 → (D−56) Hjerst; Aran 85–112 → (D−84) Aran; Wyn 113–140 → (D−112) Wyn; Myst 141–168 → (D−140) Myst; Wintar 169–196 → (D−168) Wintar.
