General General Thomas Army chief (Day 57+). Garrison Fulham; patrols cliffs; mounted detachment to Langford. Authorized to raise 2000 new troops on two-year terms (Day 57). 2000 trained and deployed to coastal garrisons (Day 119). Three fortified encampments planned (two north, one near Southham). Remains General of the reconstituted Royal Army / Royal Guards (end Book 03).

Deployments (Day 110+)

Ordered by King Robert after Count Matthias's Southham report (Day 110):

Unit Mission Location
Mounted company Regular patrols on roads Southham ↔ Dal Valley and Southham ↔ Thornwick Southham region; patrols to begin within five days of order
Infantry battalion Garrison new fortified camp outside Southham Camp under construction just outside Southham city walls
Purpose Deter Black Crow road ambushes; show strength without full-scale operation; defend Southham against possible Pârsâ move

Context: Matthias and Miri favor patrols plus just administration over a large offensive operation; Milos initially favored a combined mounted/infantry operation; Robert leaned toward Milos but accepted the middle plan Miri had proposed.

Civil war operations (Days 229–232)

  • Major Geoffrey: 3rd Regiment + mounted company + Duke John's fyrd march SouthhamNewtown (~4–5 days); forage allowed; summary execution for rape per John's orders.

Other Army references (Days 57–101)

  • Army mobilized after Danian invasion evidence from woods/cave operations (Day 57).
  • Sir Godfrey (Knight) tasked with Wickham Black Crow threat while Company goes to Southham (Day 101).
  • Army training must not be interrupted for Southham mission lest Dania invade (Day 101, Lilia/Matthias).
  • Day 123: King Robert orders Count Matthias and the Company to make war preparations (messenger to Newtown).
