Appearance¶
5'7", about 122#. Soft, rather than toned, build befitting a sorceress. Long, straight glossy black hair past the shoulders; dark eyes; fair skin.
Typical dress: Loose cream or off-white hooded robe or gown of soft matte fabric; large circular silver brooch at the neckline; wide brown leather belt with matching metal buckle. Sorceress robes and medallion; presents as dangerously skilled to casual observers.
Background¶
Miriam Simpson's father disappeared just before her sixth year (OP). She awakens on Story Day 1 as Miri, a sorceress in Nystria, girlfriend of Matthew/Matthias. She embraces magic and their new life more readily than Matthew seeks escape.
Lord Mayor Edward summons her (Day 3), revealing the throne plot and betrothal to Robert (created Duke morning of Day 12). She becomes privy to regicide conspiracy against King Ludwig, allied with Edward's faction. Public betrothal Day 12; she negotiates pre-marital fidelity terms with Robert (names Matthias Day 12; Robert accepts the bargain Day 17 at the Lord Mayor's house) and reveals she knows Robert intends to kill Edward once King.
By Day 32 she departs for Haven and marriage (~sixteen days from Day 21), with Milos as escort. She assassinates King Ludwig on Day 41 via a gunpowder clay-jar bomb planted in the Royal privy during a Queen's mid-day meal (talisman focus; primary plan from Day 31), with Lisette's slow poison as backup. Surrenders crystals in Haven Keep (Day 18) but retains up to 40 charged crystals in locked magic boxes that evade the Court's crystal detector. Married Day 37; uses shape-shifting maidenhead spell with Robert. Named Court Mage (Day 42); displaces Melchior. Pregnant (privately Day 48; announced Day 49).
Personality¶
Intelligent, politically astute, and increasingly committed to Nystria as home. Balances court role with adventuring band loyalty. Cautious about gunpowder firearms (agrees with Tristan, Day 19–21) while supporting mills and incremental change. Acknowledges Milos's impossible love with gratitude (Day 32).
